ESF COMPETITIVE DISCIPLINES
Different Forms of Competition Require Different Forms of Governance
Today’s competitive landscape extends beyond the traditional boundaries of sport.
Physical and mechatronic disciplines, IP-native digital competition, robotic systems and autonomous technologies operate under fundamentally different conditions. Their requirements for safety, technical standards, intellectual property, competitive integrity, ownership and participation cannot be governed through a single model.
The Elympic Sports Federation therefore organises competitive disciplines according to their operational and governance characteristics, ensuring each can be recognised and developed within a framework appropriate to how that competition actually functions.
This approach allows ESF to support established and emerging disciplines without forcing fundamentally different competitive systems into structures that were not designed for them.
The objective is not to make every form of competition the same. It is to ensure every recognised discipline has an appropriate pathway to integrity, development and international participation.
